Welcome, colleagues. This presentation will include a variety of materials to help you think about practicing a pedagogy of care and connection. I've designed the presentation with this home page as a starting point. You can then continue to the following pages:

In this video (4 minutes 49 seconds), I share some of my inspiration for the project, and explain some of the frameworks and tools that I used to help enact a pedagogy of care and connection:

In this second video (6 minutes 25 seconds), I talk more about the institutional context for my decision-making--from my institutional status to my course load and student identities in these classes.

Additionally, other context matters. As I approach any semester, I want to keep in mind my own identity as a heterosexual, cisgender, middle class, highly educated White woman and how these factors shape my own experience of power inside and outside the classroom. This is where my background in feminist pedagogy is particularly helpful in thinking about how I present myself and how I interact with students whose identities are different from and similar to my own.
