Curriculum OverviewMove Together is an evidence-based recreational therapy physical activity curriculum for children ages 6-12 with Spina Bifida and Cerebral Palsy within an outpatient clinic setting. The purpose of the program is to increase perceived physical well-being through the self-determination theory. The three components of the self-determination theory are competence, autonomy, and relatedness. This program will occur once a week for eight weeks, utilizing 75-minute sessions. These sessions will promote participants' autonomy, competence, and relatedness within the physical activity group, increasing overall perceived physical well-being. |

About the Curriculum DeveloperJenniMae Mook is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist(CTRS). JenniMae obtained her bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy with a minor in At-Risk Child and Youth from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in May 2023. She also completed a Master's degree in Recreational Therapy at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in May 2024. She has experience working with individuals with developmental, intellectual, and physical disabilities. As well as experience with children in a clinical setting. |

Assessment Description/ExplanationThe Psychological Need Satisfaction in Exercise Scale (PNSE) The Psychological Need Satisfaction in Exercise Scale (PNSE) is an assessment that is multidimensional to measure perceived psychological need satisfaction to exercise in line with the self-determination theory. This assessment is an 18-item questionnaire that uses a 7-point Likert scale ranging from 1,” not at all true” to 7, “very true”. There are six questions for each part of the Self-Determination Theory. Perceived Competence Maintaining Leisure Involvement (PCS) The Perceived Competence Scale (PCS) is an assessment tool that measures competence in a certain activity. The PCS assesses participants feelings of competence in taking a certain course or engaging in a new behavior. This form of the PCS is centered around maintaining leisure involvement. This assessment is a 4-item questionnaire that uses a 7-point Likert scale ranging from 1, “not at all true” to 7, “very true”. |

Program Evaluation |
Program Evaluation/DescriptionIt is important to monitor this program in order to ensure success. A Program Evaluation Procedure Form is to be completed at most two weeks following the completion of this curriculum by the CTRS who ran the program. This evaluation form assists practitioners in determining whether the curriculum is being followed in the correct manner. If there are extreme differences between this fidelity manual and the Program Evaluation Procedure Form, then results may be skewed. |
