Mitchell Waite, Ph. D.

The instructor of this course is Fire Chief (retired) Mitchell Waite, Ph.D. Dr. Waite spent 26 years in the fire service, retiring from the Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department in 2011. Colonel Waite (retired) spent 42 years in the military, retiring from that occupation in 2017. Professor Waite teaches for several different universities in the State of Wisconsin and has done so for over 36 years. Dr. Waite founded and owns the Double Diamond Leadership Authority, LLC which specializes in leadership training and development, as well as organizational change and transition (doublediamondleadership.org). Dr. Waite received his Ph.D. in Applied Management & Decision Sciences with a specialization in Leadership & Organizational Change from Walden University in 2005.

Since his retirement from the fire service and the military, Dr. Waite has continued his lifetime of service and is currently an EMR with Saratoga EMS, a Safety Advisor with FEMA, an instructor with Team Rubicon, a contract instructor with the National Fire Academy, a member of the Wood County Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Team, and a member of the Wood County Veterans Service Commission.

Dr. Waite has published five books thus far: Fire Service Leadership: Theories and Practices; The EMS Challenge-A Call to Action; 400 Days-A Call to Duty; It's All About Leadership; and Essential Characteristics for Effective Leaders: Cracking the Code?. He is currently working on his sixth leadership book focusing upon junior leaders.
